IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE WORLD OF "PITTI UOMO": Ekaterina Lavrovskaya, specially for BELT MAGAZINE

Pitti Uomo just wrapped up, and right after that, we kicked off a series of men's fashion weeks. In this article, we’re focusing on Pitti, which has become a major event in the world of men’s fashion.

Katya Lavrovskaya, a long-time friend of Belt Magazine and Head of PR at Phoenix Milano, kindly shared her insights and experiences about the men’s fashion fair.

- Who can get into Pitti Uomo and how?

“Pitti Uomo is the biggest and most important men’s fashion fair in the world. Like any other fashion week, it’s primarily for buyers and distributors. Naturally, journalists and photographers from all over the globe come to cover this event. After all, it’s a key marketplace and an awesome way to make a name for yourself. A lot of designers who’ve never shown before start here at Pitti.”

- What special spots at Pitti Uomo are must-visits?

“Well, when it comes to the fair itself, it’s gotta be Fortezza da Basso — that’s where all the action happens. It’s not the prettiest place, but all the exhibition halls are there. For evening events, first up should be Caffè Gilli — it’s the trendiest hangout spot for all the fashionistas, especially on the first night. Live music, DJs, great vibes, and a chance to meet new peeps.

Other must-see places include Palazzo Strozzi, a medieval castle with stunning interiors. You should also check out Palazzo Antinori — that’s the palace of the ancient Antinori family, who still live there, and you can only get in during events. Don’t forget Casa Gucci or Gucci Garden in Piazza della Signoria and Ponte Vecchio for vintage lovers!”

- Are there any words or phrases unique to Pitti Uomo?

“Florentine slang! For example, ‘Mi harba’ — that’s what Florentines say instead of ‘mi piace,’ which means ‘I like it.’ It sounds super funny!”

- What were the standout parties this season?

“First off, there’s the Esquare party — it’s not listed on the official site and is an independent event, but if you can get in, definitely go! Amazing views of the Arno River, Franciacorta flowing like water, and tons of celebs, bloggers, and fashion influencers in attendance.

Todd Snyder threw a solid summer bash this season. The jewelry brand Giovanni Raspini hosted an incredible event in their concept space in downtown Florence. We also had a blast at the Cannoli Lovers Club — we had a delicious lunch by the water! Almost all the parties are organized by Jacopo Durazzani — one of the best event makers in Europe.

This year, probably due to the tough global situation, there weren’t any over-the-top parties: Lenny Kravitz didn’t perform, and there weren’t many big stars around. But we believe everything will bounce back next season!”

- Where can you make connections?

“Everywhere! Any event like this is a great spot for new connections and valuable contacts!”

So, Pitti Uomo continues to be a magnet for all fans of men’s fashion and inspiration. Huge thanks to Katya Lavrovskaya for this awesome interview, and we hope to see her at future events!
