"When Science Meets Art" — ERDEM Resort 2026 Collection

The ERDEM Resort 2026 collection is all about elegance, refinement, femininity, art, and even science. You might wonder, what does science have to do with it? Let us gladly explain!

Designer Erdem Moralioglu drew inspiration from the Age of Enlightenment and the figure of Maria Sibylla Merian — a 17th-century German entomologist, botanical illustrator, and naturalist. She was the first person to discover the life cycle and metamorphosis of the butterfly and published her first book of botanical illustrations in 1965.

But it’s not just that. Erdem Moralioglu found out that the British Museum, which has served as the location for Erdem’s shows for several seasons now, holds a collection of Maria Merian’s works. Similarly, Merian’s collection is also kept at Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, which naturally caught his attention as well. A coincidence? Hardly.

Maria Merian was a devout Calvinist, and it is precisely this contradiction between her intense religiosity, her scientific reasoning, and her untamed passion for nature that Erdem explores in this collection.
The collection is rich with embroidery depicting plants and insects, guipure lace, draping, and appliqués. Looking at how the designer managed to combine all these elements in each outfit, one can say that ERDEM Resort 2026 is a prism through which we can see the delicate connection between nature, art, and science.
